Ulalo Supports Mzimba North Education MeRIT Awards for Third Consecutive Year
Ulalo, an organization committed to advancing education in Malawi, proudly supported the Mzimba North District Education Awards for the third consecutive year.
The event, held at the University of Livingstonia’s Ekwendeni Campus hall, recognized outstanding schools, teachers, and students for their achievements in education.
This year, Ulalo sponsored 13 categories of awards, up from previous years, highlighting its ongoing commitment to improving education in the region. The awards aimed to celebrate excellence and inspire others in the district to reach new heights.
A Strong Partnership
The ceremony, which began with a solidarity match, was attended by influential traditional leaders, including Senior Chiefs Mtwalo, Mpherembe, and Kampingo Sibande, alongside Sub-Traditional Authority Yohane Jere. Their participation underscored the event’s significance within the community.
James Gondwe, Ulalo’s Executive Director, emphasized the importance of continuing the organization’s support for the event. "We are honored to recognize and reward the hard work of students, teachers, and schools in Mzimba North. Education is key to building a brighter future, and we are proud to be part of that process," said Gondwe.
Recognition of Ulalo’s Impact
The Director of Teacher Education and Development (DTED), Dr. Zizwa Msukuma, who served as the guest of honor, commended Ulalo for its ongoing role in improving educational standards in the district. "Ulalo’s dedication has had a measurable impact, motivating both learners and educators to excel," Dr. Msukuma stated.
Mzimba North's Impressive Rise in National Rankings
A major highlight of the event was the announcement that Mzimba North Education District had climbed to 11th place nationally in the Primary School Leaving Certificate (PSLCE) rankings, up from 18th place last year. This remarkable progress is attributed to efforts like Ulalo’s Academic Clinics and Role Modeling Sessions, which continue to inspire students and teachers alike.
Celebrating Excellence in Education
The event celebrated a wide range of achievements with awards presented in 13 categories, including Best Performing Schools, Best Students, Best Teachers in Academic Excellence, and Best Teachers in Community Engagement. The awards not only recognized individual and institutional accomplishments but also promoted a culture of excellence within the district.
Looking to the Future
Ulalo remains dedicated to supporting education in Mzimba North and will continue to sponsor initiatives that encourage academic success. With Mzimba North’s strong progress and continued community support, Ulalo is confident that the district’s educational achievements will continue to grow in the years ahead.
