Uplifting Communities: Construction of Two New Centers Set to Transform Kazuni and Thunduwike in Mzimba North
In a bid to enhance community development, Ulalo, through its Community Activation, Natural Resources Management, and Improvement of Social Infrastructure (CANARASI) Project, has commenced the construction of two community centers in Kazuni and Thunduwike, located in Mzimba North.
This initiative is poised to significantly contribute to the growth and empowerment of the Kazuni and Thunduwike communities. Once completed, the centers will serve as vital hubs, providing critical support to local development efforts.
Commenting on the project, Group Village Head Thembani Mkandawire from Thunduwike shared his excitement, stating that the construction will not only transform the physical appearance of the community but also accelerate the pace of development in the area.
"This project is a significant milestone for our community. It will bring about lasting changes that will positively impact us all," said Mkandawire.
On his part, Group Village Head (GVH) Msakula Chipeta from Kazuni expressed his gratitude for the project, emphasizing its potential to bring much needed change to the community.
The construction of the community centers is made possible through a collaboration with Chancen durch Bildung, with generous funding from the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Beyond resource management, the CANARASI project also focuses on improving service delivery in schools and the broader community.
Key infrastructural developments under the project include the construction of two school blocks, a duplex teacher's house, student toilets with dedicated facilities for girls, and more.
With an estimated value of over 700 million Kwachas, the CANARASI project is a monumental effort aimed at creating sustainable and long-term benefits for the people of Mzimba North.
Ulalo’s partnership with Chancen durch Bildung and BMZ is critical to the realization of this ambitious initiative, which promises to have a lasting impact on the region’s development.
